Wouter Klein studied history at Leiden University, and he holds a PhD in history of pharmacy from Utrecht University in the Netherlands. His research connects the history of medicine, pharmacy, and botany with digital humanities, with a special interest in the early modern period. Klein’s research interests include the history of the global drug trade, pharmaceutical price history, pharmaceutical advertising, the history of epidemics, global networks for the exchange of knowledge and goods, and the trajectories of new, exotic drugs in commerce, science, and society.
