Taylor Johnson joined Dumbarton Oaks in 2019 and currently serves as the Rare Book Collection assistant. In this role, she manages the reading room, including scheduling research appointments, answering reference questions, processing image requests, and coordinating primary source instruction sessions. She also works with the curator of rare books to improve accessibility to the collection by creating online research guides and expanding Dumbarton Oaks’ digital resources. As a member of the Plant Humanities team, she also supports the initiative’s fellowship and academic programs. Her current project is the Plant Humanities Research Portal, a searchable bibliography of digitized botanical literature.
Johnson completed her undergraduate degree in classics, with a concentration in ancient Greek, at the University of Virginia and holds a master's in library science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her specialty areas include descriptive bibliography and book history, particularly of the hand-press period.
