Lovers’ Lane Pool is lined with cast stone columns conceived in the baroque tradition. Beatrix Farrand designed and installed these stately giants in 1926, furthering the Italian motifs in the room (inspired by the Accademia degli Arcadi Bosco Parrasio). Resting atop the columns are finials designed in the same style as their column counterparts. The columns and the finials suggests a sturdy frame and border against which Farrand’s other designs play out.
