Described as “a true sound philosopher” (Oberösterreiche Nachrichte), the brilliant young Italian-born pianist was the first-prize winner of the 2017 International Beethoven Piano Competition Vienna and was a 2018–19 Performance Today Young Artist in Residence. His fascination with sound production and music’s color and texture has led him to memorize every work completely from the score before ever playing a note of it. In his Washington, DC, debut, Leone plays compositions by Ludwig van Beethoven, Frederic Chopin, Claude Debussy, and Igor Stravinsky.
