Mexico City, Mexico, (Printer, Publisher)
The stationer, book store, and printing firm, Librería Ruhland & Ahlschier, was founded by Emil Ruhland and Max Ahlschier in Mexico City in 1897. The business was located at Coliseo Viejo, 16. The company printed the German-language newspaper, Deutsche Zeitung von Mexiko (1897–1914), founded by Dr. Teodoro Epstein in 1883. In 1897, the Mexican government contracted Ruhland & Ahlschier to publish illustrated Mexican postcards, first employing collotype and later chromolithography printing processes. Sometime around 1905, the postcard business was acquired by a new owner who published with the credit line Ruhland & Ahlschier Sucesor.
