Description
Discusses Mr. Thacher's concern that growing vegetables is costly from a time and labor standpoint, so Beatrix Farrand suggests not do so for a year as an experiment; review of the funding pamphlet for the Santa Barbara Botanic Gardens; a draft article for the journal, Landscape Architecture; and a proposal for a book on cultivated trees and shrubs for California and the Pacific region by Mr. William Judd.
Includes a "Memorandum" notes dated August 22, 1944, written by Dr. E.D. Merrill supporting the creation of a book on the cultivated trees and shrubs of California and the Pacific Region similar to "Rehder's Manual of Cultivated Trees and Shrubs."
