Typewritten letter acknowledges Anne Sweeney's letter of the October 27, 1947. Isabelle M. Stover mentions Beatrix Farrand has left with Clementine Walter to Santa Barbara, California and reports on the devastating Mount Desert fire that took the home Isabelle M. Stover lived in with her family. According to an article written by Arthur and Isabelle M. Stover and their daughter, Kathryn Mittelberger, Arthur Stover (Isabelle's husband), was the gardener for Mrs. Eva Van Cortlandt Hawkes and lived in a home with his family on her property.
Isabelle M. Stover explains it will be a while before she can order more books for Dumbarton Oaks until she can find suitable lodging.
