Description
Typewritten letter responds to Beatrix Farrand's letter of February 28, 1947 on which Beatrix Farrand states she is no longer feels able to consult on the Dumbarton Oaks Gardens, Washington, D.C. Mildred Bliss acknowledges Robert Patterson's report is detailed and tiring, but she feels Beatrix Farrand has misread the part concerning the Orangery. She reminisces on the time they worked together on creating the grounds at Dumbarton Oaks, but understands Beatrix Farrand's need to retire. Mildred Bliss urges Beatrix Farrand to follow through with advising, counseling, visits, and obligations such as the "record notes" [Beatrix Farrand's Plant Book for Dumbarton Oaks] to Dumbarton Oaks, Harvard University before bringing the professional relationship to a graceful close.
Mildred Bliss replies to the topics of the Washington National Cathedral and Elizabeth Lindsay's illness.
