Description

Beatrix Farrand and her office staff contributed drawings for the design of the Fountain Terrace including for the bench and canopy. 

Fountain Terrace also known as Terrace D during this time.

On verso: Typewritten label: "Fountain Terrace bench at W. end before canopy." Handwritten in pencil: "#189 (Northwest corner of Rose Terrace)" ; "Fountain Terrace & seat under walk of Rose Terrace."

#189 refers to number of photograph in The Bliss Album of Garden Photographs held in the Dumbarton Oaks Archives. The photographs are attributed to Stewart Bros. Photographers taken around 1929-1932.

Canopy is visible above seat on landing between Fountain Terrace and Rose Terrace.
