Description

Beatrix Farrand and her office staff created drawings for the design of the Fountain Terrace and the Herb Garden.

Two copies of photograph in collection both 10.0 x 8.0 inches.

Copy A: On verso: Typewritten label: "Fountain Terrace f[oun]t[ai]n & view of Wisteria arbor." Handwritten in pencil: "#192, "Fountain Terrace showing one fountain & distant Wisteria arbor."

Copy B: On verso: Typewritten label: "Fountain Terrace f[oun]t[ai]n & view of Wisteria arbor." Handwritten in blue ink, appears to be in Mildred Bliss handwriting: "The Du Cerceau arbor. The iron flowers to be yet placed in gate with finials." Handwritten in red colored pencil by unknown hand: "61 [circled and underlined]." Piece of adhesive on verso.

#192 refers to number of photograph included in The Bliss Album of Garden Photographs in the Dumbarton Oaks Archives. The photograph is attributed to Stewart Bros. Photographers taken around 1929-1932.
