Garden Flowers / Series of 48 / No. 31
Layia / The Layia ‘Elegans’ which we illustrate here is a very graceful variety of this hardy annual, which comes to us from California. The flowers are charming and the plant is easily raised from seed sown in the open in April. A sowing in heat may be made in March, and the seedlings hardened off in May, being well spaced out. Ordinary soil is suitable, and the plants should have plenty of sun.
