Paris, France, 1827–1896 (Dramatist, Librettist)
Alfred Blau (1827–1896) was a French dramatist and opera librettist. He rediscovered a twelfth-century chivalric tale, Parthénopéus de Blois, in 1871, which in 1882 he made the basis for the libretto for the opera, Esclarmonde, composed by Jules Massenet in 1889.
