Edward H. Mitchell

San Francisco, California, USA (Printer, Publisher)

Edward H. Mitchell (1867–1932) was an early and prolific postcard publisher in the United States and was located in San Francisco, California. Mitchell's early cards – colored vignettes – were printed in Germany. Later, he published undivided-back cards from 225 Post Street before the 1906 San Francisco earthquake destroyed his printing operation. After 1906, he built a plant and warehouse on Army Street where he published thousands of divided-back cards, real photograph postcards, and a series of exaggerated-scale California fruits and vegetables. He also printed cards for other publishers. He gave up postcard production about 1932, the year of his death.
