Todor Chvrakitch

Bosnia and Herzegovina (Artist)

Todor Chvrakitch (Todor Švrakić / Тодор Швракић) (1882–1931) was a Bosnian watercolor artist and one of the early twentieth-century pioneers of Bosnian painting in the European tradition. Švrakić studied art at Risto Vukanović's private painting school in Belgrade. He went on to study at the art academy in Vienna under Pavle Paja Jovanović and subsequently gained a scholarship to the Prague Academy of Art. His academic, naturalistic style, with an inclination for ethnographic subjects, made his art popular for reproduction as postcards.
