Donald Proulx Nasca archive, 1976–2006

This collection provides visual support for the iconographic categories established in Proulx’s book A Sourcebook of Nasca Ceramic Iconography (Iowa City: University of Iowa Press, 2006). It includes photographs of Nasca vessels (35 mm color slides, b&w negatives, and contact prints) as well as cards with photocopied iconographic elements, arranged according to Proulx’s categories. It also includes 11 notebooks which give very brief descriptions and accession numbers for the vessels which Proulx photographed.

Access to the collection is by appointment only. Schedule an appointment.

Rights for materials created by Donald Proulx were transferred to Dumbarton Oaks in the deed of gift for the collection. Dumbarton Oaks is making those materials available for publication under a Creative Commons CC BY-SA 4.0 license. Any materials not created by Proulx are subject to standard copyright law.
