The albums record a trip to Europe and the Middle East taken by Egbert and Keck in 1937. Arriving in Portugal in February and departing from Italy in July, their itinerary included: Greece, Egypt, Iraq, Iran, Israel, Jordan, Syria, Turkey, and Croatia. As an architectural historian and art historian, Egbert and Keck were primarily interested in documenting architectural monuments and archaeological sites from all periods. However, the album also includes snapshots of landscapes, street and roadside scenes, and portraits of the travelers.
