Dear Robert,

I was very much grieved to hear of Whittemore’s death.Whittemore died of a heart attack on June 8, 1950. I wonder who is going to carry on, now, in CP?Constantinople. I’ve written a line of sympathy to Ermoloff.Boris Nicolaevich Ermolov (Ermoloff), a Russian expatriate and longtime friend of Thomas Whittemore. He was the librarian of the Byzantine Institute in Paris.

I’m changing flats, but have found nothing suitable so far. We must vacate this place by July 1re. Elisina goes to Antigny, and I hope to get some time there, too; but I shall have to be a good deal here in Paris.

Let me know your plans, and Mildred’s, I beg, as soon as they harden.

Much love to you both

R. T.
