Commentary

This coin is a decanummium of Class 6. Grierson notes that he wrongly doubted the existence of NNO Δ for a decanummium (DOC 2.2:416 and 500, note 185). This coin is published by Bendall (“La datation des monnaies de bronze de Constant II à Syracuse”). The Δ, despite NNO, is indictional, and the coin is from 660/661. The  may have been combined with NNO to indicate the year.

MIB 3:253, no. 215 (citing this coin from Bendall, together with five other specimens).
