Commentary
Fourth specimen known of this type, which is missing from reference books. Others have appeared at auction: Nomos 9, 21 October 2014, no. 320; Rauch 96, 10 December 2014, no. 647; and Gorny and Mosch 228, 9 March 20156, no. 756. It corresponds to class VII of the solidus (DOC 2.2:434–35, no. 42; MIB 3:240–41, nos. 39–42), which Grierson dated to 663–668. Hahn (MIB 3:125 and Prägetabelle V) prefers 667–668 because of its rarity. This dating seems plausible.
