Notes

Holkham Hall, Early of Leicester Library 34

Some of the Holkham mss. have gone to the Bodleian or British Libraries, but we contacted the Hall (June, 2012) and they kindly confirmed that they do indeed still possess this and ms. 345.

Missale Romanum, velum, end of the 14th cent., "probably written in Milan" (De Ricci, sub. lem.), "probably written for the church of St. Eustorgio in Milan" (Hassall p. 6, which see in Bibliography and Online Resources).

Our OXF.1.1 (so labeled because it has two mss. from Bodley's Holkham collection) contains two pages from this manuscript, a verso (full-page illustration of Christ on the Cross) and facing recto text ("Te igit(ur) clementissime Pater, per [Jesu]m [Christu]m, Filium tuum, D(omi)n(u)m n(ost)r(u)m, supplices rogamus ac petimus..." [or more precisely "...per ihm xpm filium..."]) with ornamental capital T with a writer, a monk, a chalice &c. The latter page only partly photographed, as the orderer seems to have been primarily interested in the illustrations.
