Dēmētsana, Library, ms. 40

Manuscript Pages

Additional Information

  • Acquired: donated by the estate of L.G. Westerink
  • Film: 35mm Black-and-white Negative

Westerink’s box:

Δημοτικὴ Σχολή 40
ff. 381v-399v
Psellus, Theologica

There is no mention on the orig. box of multiple copies, but it came with two; perhaps two boxes were consolidated. We have spliced the two copies together for, as we hope, the user’s convenience.

Paper labels attached to films (now removed):

Municipal School of Dimitsana
Copy 1 [and Copy 2]

The second copy may be slightly better, but the following applies to both:

— 389v Bottom half is slightly faded, but legible.
— 392v-395v Outer edges of text somewhat blurred, but mostly or wholly legible.
— 395r-399r Mostly legible, but with many difficult spots; the photographers seem to have been aware of this, as they took 398v/399r more than once.

At the beginning of the second roll is a photograph not from the manuscript; it is difficult to tell, but appears to be a photo of a mountain in the Arcadian countryside. No members of the town council can be distinguished.
