Among the palaces that Salomon Kleiner depicted is the Upper Belvedere, a palace complex built for Prince Eugene of Savoy on the outskirts of Vienna. The first section of Kleiner’s Residences memorables de l’incomparable heros de nôtre siècle is dedicated to the prince’s aviary. Here, birds of prey curiously perch next to the steps of the palace’s principal facade.
