Mollet's original manuscipt for his Theatre des plans et iardinages (Theatre des plans et jardinages).

Numbers on leaves penciled on upper right corner done by a later hand: leaves 2-10, 20, 40, 50, 60, 80, 87, 88, 110, 120, 130, 140, 160, 170, 181, 182, 183, and 188; most leaves unnumbered.

Illustrations (plates; leaves 88-[109]) are of arabesque-like parterre designs; also numbered on plates as 1–22.

Plates 1–22 identical to plates 1–22 in the 1652 published edition Theatre des plans et iardinages, though some are not cropped as in the 1652 publication.

Title page in brown and green; date 1595 written on title page; illuminated initials.

Each leaf has text or plate within an ink border.

Leaf 4 (recto) addressed to "au roy" [Louis XIII] and signed Claude Mollet.

Plates designed and signed lower left by Claude Mollet's sons: André Mollet (plates 1, 5, 9, 14, 15 [signed lower right corner: A. Mollet], 16, 19, 22); Jacques Mollet (plates 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13, 21); Noël Mollet (plates 4, 20); Claude Mollet (plates 17, 18).
