Translation
Κύριε βοήθει. Πέτρου.
Lord, give Thy aid. (Seal of) Peter.
Commentary
Laurent, in his unpublished catalogue of the Shaw collection, read the monogram on this seal as Πέτρου, on the assumption that the zigzag letter at right represented an abbreviation. We have tentatively accepted this reading but remain open to other solutions.
