Commentary

The representation of Sts. Peter and Paul on the obverse is likely placed on this seal because of the seal owner's association with the Church of the two saints in the Orphanotropheion. See BZS.1955.1.261 (Zacos-Veglery, no. 1169). The word ὀρφανοτρόφου is likely present in the monogram, but unfortunately the name in conjunction with it in the monogram cannot be read as the monogram is too off-center to be deciphered in full.
