Commentary

The reading of this inscription is by no means certain. We have followed Laurent's provisional transcription in his unpublished catalogue of the Shaw collection. If, as it appears, the inscription is metrical, it should be added to the collection compiled by Wassiliou-Seibt, Corpus der byzantinischen Siegel mit metrischen Legenden.
