Translation

Ἰωάννης πατρίκιος ἐπὶ τοῦ Βήλου, ἄρχων τῆς θυμέλης.

John patrikios epi tou Velou, archon tes thymeles.

Commentary

The office of the archon tes thymeles, a financial official in the bureau of the imperial sakelle, appears to have been in charge of imperial entertainments, the successor to the tribunus voluptatum; see Oikonomides, Listes de préséances, 315.
