Translation

Νικολάῳ μητροπολίτῃ Νεοκαισαρείας.

Nicholas, metropolitan of Neokaisareia.

Commentary

Laurent saw the effaced image on the obverse as a bust of the Virgin; however, St Gregory Thaumatourgos is directly related to the church of Neokaisareia and is represented on the seals of many prelates of this metropolis.
