Commentary
The owner of this seal may be the Nikephoros Modenos attested as a magistros about the years 1050–1060 and later as a protokouropalates. See Wassiliou-Seibt’s comments on this seal. A Manuel Modenos is mentioned in the Alexiad (in the year 1108): see PBW : Manuel 177.
