Commentary

The inscription will have concluded with the formulaic τὴν γραφὴν βλέπων νόει or some variation typical of anonymous metrical verses. The use of the form οὗτινος ("whosever") instead of the usual οὗ ("whose") suggests that this may have been a hypermetrical inscription of the sort collected by E. McGeer, "Discordant verses on Byzantine metrical seals," SBS 4 [1995] 63-69).
