Commentary
There is an superfluous T in the spelling of the Saint's name between Λ and Μ.
Panteleimon is venerated as one of the most popular of the healing saints who refused payment for their services (the anargyroi). His standard portrait type is that of a young man with thick, curly hair, and he is usually shown holding the martyr's cross or his medical instruments, or both. For a discussion of St Panteleimon on seals, see Cotsonis, "Contribution," 427-28.
