Commentary

The reading of the reverse Arabic inscription on this token is uncertain; it is possible that it reads سلام عليكم (Peace be upon you), though does not seem likely from the formation of the letters, the fact that this is a token makes this reading plausible. سلمان (Salman) is a possible reading, as is سليمان (Suleiman), though the Arabic most looks like the much less common سيلمان.
