γραφῶν τὸ κῦρος Ἰωάννου τοῦ Μακρυγένη.

The confirmation of the correspondence of John Makrygenes.

Commentary

The seal presents what appears to be an attempt at a metrical inscription rather than a correctly rendered dodecasyllablic verse; it contains fourteen syllables and an awkwardly placed caesura.

For the more common and widely attested version of this name, Makrogenes, see BZS 1958.106.4366 and Wassiliou-Seibt's commentary in Siegel mit metrischen Legenden I, no. 642.
