Commentary
Hypaipa (modern Dabbey, near Ödemis, along the Küçük Menderes) was an ancient city and a bishopric. The seal published here shows that it also served as a tax collecting center in the ninth century. See RE 9 (1916) 195-96; Laurent, Corpus V/1, 185.
