Translation

Κύριε βοήθει τῷ σῷ δούλῳ Βαάνῃ πατρικίῳ πραιποσίτῳ καὶ βασιλικῷ σακελλαρίῳ.

Lord, help your servant Baanes patrikios, praipositos, and imperial sakellarios.

Commentary

The combination of titles and offices that appear on the reverse of these seal also appears on another seal of Baanes (BZS.1958.106.2582), although the case differs. Laurent identified the owner of this seal as Baanes Angoures, who first appears in sources in 861; see PmbZ 2: no. 719/corr. for references.
