Translation

Θεοτόκε βοήθει Νικολάῳ νωβελλισίμῳ τῷ Ζωναρᾷ.

Theotokos, help Nicholas Zonaras, nobelissimos.

Commentary

Although only the lower portion of the figure on the obverse is visible, parallels show that the design is of a standing Mother of God, holding the Christ child in her right hand.
