Translation

Bishop of Myra, stand guard over the correspondence of John, one of the Alopos family.

Commentary

The inscription is somewhat problematic in that the name of the owner is given in the accusative case when the dative or genitive would be expected. Wassiliou-Seibt notes a parallel published (with misreadings) by Laurent and lists other instances of the name John Alopos.
