Translation

ωάννου σφράγισμα τοῦ Καλογνώμου.

The seal of John Kalognomos.

Commentary

Dodecasyllabic. The reading of the name on the seal is provisional and cannot be established with certainty until a better preserved parallel becomes known. An alternative reading of the name could be Kalognostes. Wassiliou-Seibt reads the name as Kalognomos, linking this specimen to a seal in Zacos collection, which similarly features St. Theodore on the obverse and bears the name John Kalognomos.
