Michael Pavles (tenth century)
Obverse
The archangel Michael holding the sceptre over his right shoulder and a globus in his left hand. Sigla on either side: μχ : Μιχ(αήλ). Along the upper circumference, an inscription:

Ἀρχιστράτιγ(ε) β(οήθει)
Reverse
Inscription of three lines beginning and ending with a cross. Fleurons above, and a row of pellets below. Thin wreath border.

Translation

Commentary
The reading of the owner's family name is not certain. The engraver seems to have included an extraneous letter and abbreviation.
