Obverse

The Virgin standing between two cypress trees. Details indistinct. Within concentric line borders, traces of a circular inscription along the circumference:

...τοκεβοηθτωδ.λ...

[Θεο]τόκε βοήθ(ει) τῷ δ[ού]λ(ῳ) [σου]

Reverse

In the field, an inscription of five lines beginning with a cross; it is the continuation of the inscription partially preserved along the circumference:

..............πατωκαι

Translation

Θεοτόκε βοήθει τῷ δούλῳ σου Ἰωάννῃ βασιλικῷ σπαθαρίῳ, ὑπάτῳ καὶ χαρτουλαρίῳ τοῦ γενικοῦ λογοθεσίου.

Mother of God, help your servant John, imperial spatharios, hypatos and chartoularios of the genikon logothesion.

Commentary

The owner's name is conjectural, but from the space allotted to his name in the inscription it would seem that the abbreviation for John makes for the most likely reading.
