St John the Baptist, standing, blessing with his right hand and holding a cross-staff with his left. Inscription in two columns: Ο||Γ,Ι|||Ν· : ὁ ἅγ(ιος) Ἰωάν(νης). Border of dots.

Reverse

St Nicholas, standing, blessing with his right hand and holding a gospel book with his left. Inscription in two columns (only the right survives): Ν|Η|Κ|Ο|Λ||Ο, : [ὁ ἅγιος] Νηκόλαο(ς). Border of dots.

Commentary

The unusual abbreviation for ἅγιος on the obverse is found on two other tenth-century seals: DO Seals 4, no. 11.9, and Kestner 2, no. 49.
