Commentary

The figure of Christ is similar to those found on coins of Michael VI (1056-1057) and the Class E Anonymous Folles (c. 1060) (see DOC 3:2, 754-758, pl. 61 and 62). The two holes at the top of the seal indicate that it may have been suspended not only from a document but possibly it was used as a pendent as an amuletic device.
