Commentary
Laurent read the first two lines of the inscription on the reverse: ΣΦΡΑΓ|ΜΙΤΑΝΖΑ. After that a possible varia lectio is: ΕΣΤ,SΠΑ|ΡΑΘΑΛΑΣ|ΣΙΤ. He erroneously assigned the seal to Michael Anzas, vestes, judge of the Velum, and koiaistor; see Nesbitt and Seibt, “Anzas Family,” 193.
