Translation

Βαάνης πατρίκιος πραιπόσιτος καὶ βασιλικὸς σακελλάριος τῶν βασιλικῶν ἡματήων.

(Seal of) Baanes patrikios, praipositos, and imperial sakellarios of the imperial himatia.

Commentary

The combination of titles and offices that appear on the reverse of these seal also appears on another seal of Baanes (BZS.1955.1.1714), although the case differs. Laurent (Corpus 2: no. 752) identified the owner of this other seal as Baanes Angoures, who first appears in sources in 861; see PmbZ 2: no. 719/corr. for references.
