Translation

Κύριε βοήθει τῷ σῷ δούλῳ .... σπαθαροκαντιδάτῳ καὶ βασιλικῷ Ἑλλάδος.

Lord, help your servant N. spatharokandidatos and basilikos of Hellas.

Commentary

Line 3 (rev.): note the replacement of the letter delta by the letter tau in the title σπαθαροκαντιδάτῳ. We may possibly have here a reflection of demotic Greek and the use of -ντ to denote the sound of a hard -δ. A basilikos was an official with financial and fiscal responsibilities (Listes, 356; Ahrweiler, Recherches, 73-74).
