Reverse

Bust of Christ Emmanuel holding the Gospel. Inscription on either side: Ισ̅χσ̅ : Ἰ(ησοῦ)ς Χ(ριστό)ς. Traces of an inscription along the circumference: Οεμμα : ὁ Ἐμμα[νουήλ]. Border of dots.

Condition Corroded and only partially legible. Struck off center.

Commentary

The use of Roman letters on the obverse puts this specimen before the mid-eleventh century when this convention ended.
