St John the Baptist standing, holding a staff cross; a palm tree is on his left. Inscription visible on either side of the staff cross: Ο|||Ι|ο|..οδ: ὁ ἅγι(ος) Ἰω(άννης) ὁ [Πρ]όδ[ρομ(ος)]. Wreath border.

Reverse

Cruciform monogram. Letters include: γεικλνπρτχ. Wreath border.

Commentary

The monogram on the reverse admits of more than one solution. Possibilities include Peter, general chartoularios or even Peter archdeacon (ἀρχιδιάκονος) if the letter delta is recognized.
