Seal of Samonas

This seal, belonging to the high eunuch official Samonas, displays many design and epigraphic hallmarks of the early 10th century, and external evidence allows cataloguers to date it more narrowly to 907–911. Lead, 29 mm diam. BZS.1947.2.1263. Image © Dumbarton Oaks.
