Commentary
Undertype on outer border, circular inscription (a dotted crescent) visible at 3h, 6h, and 9h. Very thin flan.
According to Ryka Gyselen (email, 21 March 2007), this could be a Byzantine type struck over an Arab-Sassanian one. See the traces of a Sassanian winged crown and marginal symbols on reverse. There are traces of a legend in margin that is neither Kufic nor Pehlvi, but could be Arabic transcribed in Pehlvi.
