Commentary
This coin was struck over a coin of Bendall type 17/Shea type P (cf. BZC 2007.6.38–48). Shea notes: “On the obverse, above the inscription, a Γ, the top of a spear, and the nimbate head on St. Demetrios can be seen. On the reverse, to the left of the emperor the base of a patriarchal cross and the emperor’s robes are visible.”
